Have you ever witness someone who is ill, skinny, feeble and resting in the hospital? There, you can also see tubes that transfer the food to the body and to monitor the patient’s condition. When we see ill people, there are two lessons we can take:
1. The price of being healthy is very expensive and therefore we should stay healthy.
2. Health is also a gift that we often neglected and a thing that we should be grateful about.
If you think that healthy is not very expensive, let me explain this to you:
When both of your kidneys are no longer function, it means you will have to perform blood transfusion at least 2x a week each cost 600 thousand rupiah. In one month, 8x becomes + 5 million rupiah and in a year + 60 million rupiah. So, if you are 30 years old now and since born your kidney is not functioning well, then the total blood transfusion would have cost you 1,8 billion rupiah! Subhanallah.
That is just a case when one of our body’s organ is not function properly, can’t imagine if our heart, liver, eyes, brain or if we have a stroke, how much more treatment cost we have to pay?
Probably all treatments may cost us hundreds of billions. But the fact is, our organs are still working well and we do not have to spend that much of money.
We may feel hurt to see nasal oxygen tube stick to our nose, can you imagine how much money we have to spend if God Almighty ask us to pay for all the oxygen we inhale through our lives, including the need of water, sunlight and other pleasures from Him?
It is our time to think how much pleasure we actually have and how less we actually say thank you to God Almighty. So, how to be grateful? People who are grateful are those who will go back to his/her nature and serve God.
“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.” (Ad Dhariyat: 56)
When we leave our responsibilities and perform what is considered to be haraam it means we are not grateful to God. Do not delay or promise when we older we will worship God, because no one can guarantee if we can live until we get old.
Wallahualam (only God knows)
